Disconnect - Puzzle Game Header

Disconnect

Single player puzzle game in which you fill the board with tokens, but avoid chains of the same color.

About This Game

2D, grid-based, logic puzzle with a lot of levels. Fill the board, but avoid many successive tokens of the same color.

Disconnect

In Disconnect, the starting grid already has some pre-placed tokens, that can't be moved. You have a limited number of tokens of each color. You add them to the board, either by dragging them from the drawer into desired position, or tapping on an empty square.

After you fill the board while avoiding placing successive tokens of the same type, you win!

The game is played similar to a TicTacToe or Connect4, but without alternating the moves, or waiting for the opponent.

Game Rules

If you fill the board without sequences of too many consecutive pieces of the same color you win!

The maximum of the same tokens of the same color (in a row, column or diagonal), is as follows:

  • Max 3 successive black tokens.
  • Max 3 successive blue tokens.
  • Max 4 successive blue tokens.
  • Max 2 successive green tokens.

When you place too many tokens in a chain, a strikethrough will appear.

Game controls

Game can be controlled with a mouse or a touchscreen.

  • Tap on a drawer to select it and make it active. Placing tokens will prioritize the selected color.
  • Tap an empty square to place a token from the active drawer. If you don't have any of that color, the next color will be picked.
  • Tap on an already placed token, to change it to the next color.
  • You can 'Drag & Drop' pieces on the board to move them.
  • You can also drag a piece from a drawer to place it on the game board.

Game progression

I didn't design a proper game progression in this game. There is too many levels to play them all. My idea was that you can try some random ones, with different sizes and token types and see what kind of levels you like.

Levels

There is 1500 randomly generated levels, starting with small 5x5 ones, ending on 14x14, with over a hundred pieces to place.

qqwref: you can drag and drop the tokens, or even drag tokens you placed (not the preplaced ones). So far, for me at least, the game is too easy with all the many solutions. I guess ill try some of the later levels to see if that changes
Panthchesh: ANY row above the size limit is highlighted, so both orthogonal and diagonal rows. (not rows as in rows and columns because that would make the game incredibly easy and boring)

I think it's an interesting idea, especially with the multiple colors. Having multiple solutions for a level really hurts, because if I think I have run out of forced moves, I can't know if a move is correct or not. There are way too many levels, the game should be more focused with some tutorial levels at the start and then maybe at most 50-100 increasingly difficult/interesting ones later. I would also suggest letting the player select a token color and then click to place that color, instead of clicking multiple times on a square for certain colors.

The game rules don't make sense. It highlights diagonals?
